Ceiling fan and light fixture installation in Lititz, PA

A ceiling fan swap in Lititz is typically $150–$250 plus the $30 service charge.

Fans and fixtures swapped for new ones, new installs where there's already a box and a switch, and the switches and dimmers that run them.

What it costs

JobTypical price
Ceiling fan$150–$250
Light fixture$100–$150
Light switch$18 each

$30 service charge. Covers the trip and the first look. Applies once per visit, including the preset jobs.

Materials are extra, at cost, with the receipt. The full rate sheet has the rest of the fine print.

What's included

  • Power off at the breaker, the old fan or fixture down, and the wires tested dead before anything else
  • A fan-rated box or a brace fitted when what's up there won't hold a fan
  • The new unit assembled, hung, wired and balanced, with the switch or dimmer it needs
  • The old fixture and the packaging gathered up, and the breaker labeled if it wasn't

What's not

  • New wiring to a ceiling with no box, and new switch legs. That's a bigger job and gets quoted first
  • Work that needs the ceiling or an attic knee wall opened up
  • The fan or fixture itself, and bulbs

What to have ready

  • The fan or fixture out of the box, with the parts bag and the instructions
  • The room cleared under the fixture, and the car out if the room is the garage
  • Which switch runs it, and whether you want it on a dimmer

Questions people ask

Is the box in my ceiling strong enough for a fan?
Often not. A box rated for a light fixture holds a few pounds of dead weight; a fan needs a fan-rated box or a brace spanning the joists. I check it with the old fixture down and tell you before the new fan goes up.
Can I put a fan where there's only a light?
Usually yes, if the box can be made fan-rated and the switch can carry it. The box can almost always be replaced from below without opening the ceiling.
Do you do dimmers and smart switches?
Yes, and smart switches have their own page. A dimmer has to match the load, because an LED fixture on an old incandescent dimmer buzzes and flickers. Switches are priced each and are cheapest done on the same visit as the fan or fixture.
What about a fan on a vaulted ceiling?
Those need a sloped-ceiling adapter and a downrod long enough that the blades clear the slope. Text a photo and the ceiling height and I'll tell you what it needs.

How the job goes

A straight swap takes about an hour when the box is good. What makes it longer is what’s above the drywall: a plastic box nailed to the side of a joist that was never rated for a fan, no ground wire, or a box set too deep for the new canopy to cover. None of that shows until the old fixture is off, which is why the price is a range, and the final number lands inside it.

Fans get balanced and run at every speed while the ladder’s still up. Fixtures get the right length of chain or rod and bulbs within the rating. Where a fan is going in place of a light, the old box comes out and a fan-rated brace goes in from below, with the ceiling closed.
